August 2021 Mark Twain Quote

Hi Everyone,
Running late like usual. A bit of my bounce has gone from my bungee(Wallance and Gromit quote from A close shave). I hope everyone is keeping well.

The kitchen and games room

A great amount of progress has been made in the kitchen. I have all the doors, handles, bulkheads, cornice and a dishwasher. Meaning all that is left is the painting and the splashback. The great reveal should come in the next newsletter (as soon as I get the motivation to paint).

The games room has now received storage. I spent a weekend building the Hemnes bookshelves and storage units. It is for all my cookbooks, teapots, wine glasses, beer glasses, LEGO and jigsaws.

Books

I finished both of the Auntie Poldi by Mario Giordano books I borrowed from the library. Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions and Auntie Poldi and the Vineyards of Etna. They were so much fun. I would recommend it if you need a light read. I’ve now started Brené Brown‘s Braving the Wilderness and The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.

Art Galleries

The Art Gallery of NSW has opened its doors virtually. You can do virtual tours of the current exhibitions and some of the past ones. Head to the art gallery channel to check them out along with the videos and podcasts about the exhibitions.
Not to be outdone the National Gallery of Australia has search the collection. And because I can’t travel there I intend to spend some time in the National Gallery of Norway’s collection. They let you put together your own exhibition. Looks like fun.

Sewing

The quest for the perfect pants continues. I self-drafted another pair using the ‘Simplified Pattern-Making of Ladies’ Pants’ book by Chic R Francisco. It was my first drafting of a full pattern. It went pretty well still not perfect though. I also sewed up a stretch pair using a pattern that I’ve used a few times before. I adjusted them a little bit. They are very comfy and getting close to perfect. It might be time to go back to making some tops.

Music

It is 25 years since Jamiroquai released ‘Travelling without Moving’. You can have a trip back in time you can check it out on YouTube or Spotify. It is probably something we can all get into since that is our only way to travel at the moment.

Two of my favourite funk artists, Cory Wong and Dirty Loops, have come together to create an album. It is truly funky. Check out Turbo on Spotify or the following tracks on Youtube, Thriller, Follow the light and Ring of Saturn.

It is also now spring so I’ve now finished my winter playlist on Spotify. It has some cool new tracks from 2Cellos, The Baseballs, Jonah Nilsson and Josh Pyke along with heaps more. 3.5 hours of Filitamusic.

Not much other news. The guinea pigs are growing and are off to the vets next week to hopefully stop the same thing from happening again. Rallycross is back for the season.

Have fun
