Palm Beach Helicopter Flight – What a Way to Spend Boxing Day!

Photo over Palm Beach

On Boxing Day, I took Bobbie and Steve on a helicopter flight from Bankstown to Palm Beach and down to Long Reef and back to Bankstown via the Lane of Entry. It was a surprise present from Bobbie to Steve for Christmas. The weather wasn't as clear as we would have liked but it did make the temperature nicer. We were lucky to get an air-conditioned Robinson R44 Raven II from Bankstown Helicopters. We were joined on the flight by the amazing instructor Jeremy.

Thanks to Bobbie for the following photos of the trip.

Flight Path

Outbound from Bankstown

Leaving Bankstown at 0830 we travelled out through Choppers North then used the Lane of Entry to head north towards the Hawkesbury River. Flying over the following checkpoints.

  • Parramatta
  • Pennant Hills
  • Hornsby
  • Patonga

North Beaches

Arriving at Patonga we then followed the Hawkesbury River out towards the sea. Arriving at Palm Beach. From Palm beach we followed Pittwater down to Scotland Island then we headed out to the coast and followed the beaches from North Narrabeen down to Long Reef. It was spectacular. I love that section of the coast. At Long reef we headed west as Victor One and Romeo 405 were very busy due to the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. We joined the Lane of entry southbound back at Berowra.

Inbound to Bankstown

Travelling south from Berowra we flew over the following checkpoints.

  • Round Corner
  • Castle Hill CBD
  • M2 and M7 Interchange
  • Prospect Reservoir

From Prospect Reservoir we followed the pipeline back to Choppers West then onto Bankstown.
